Csilla Language Lab was created with a simple idea: language learning doesn’t have to be confined to a traditional classroom.

Built as an online-first language school, CL connects students across countries, continents and time zones through personalized German lessons that combine strong academic foundations with conversation, literature, culture, creativity and technology. Today, students join from Switzerland, Asia, the United States and around the world.

Csilla Horvath, founder of Csilla Language Lab, is a Zurich native who grew up in a multilingual Hungarian family. Her international background shaped an early fascination with languages, literature and different cultures.

After spending most of her adult life in New York City, Csilla returned to Zurich, bringing with her years of experience teaching in public, private, international and German schools. She holds a BA in Childhood Education and English Literature from the City University of New York and an MA in Literary Studies from the University of Zurich.

Before education became her career, Csilla worked professionally in the performing arts, an experience that continues to influence the way she teaches today. Her approach brings together academic rigor, creativity and real-world communication, with lessons shaped around each individual student rather than a one-size-fits-all curriculum.

At Csilla Language Lab, German is more than grammar and vocabulary. It is a way to connect with people, experience new cultures, study abroad, build a career and feel at home somewhere new.
